We've heard over and over that money can't buy happiness. But still, most of us can agree that we'd be a lot happier if we were as wealthy as say, Tom Brady or Gisele Bündchen.
One of the most popular and wealthiest couples in sports and entertainment history, it's clear that they and their families are set for life and wouldn't have to work another day and still have nothing to worry about.
But, once again, money isn't everything. In a recent interview for the “Drive With Jim Farley” podcast, Brady revealed that being wealthy actually interferes with parenting sometimes:
“It’s probably the hardest thing for us as parents, you know, with myself and my wife," Brady said. “We have people that clean for us. We have people that make our food. We have people that drive us to the airport if we need that. We get off a plane and there’s people waiting there for us and we get ushered in. That’s my kids’ reality, which is the hard part, to say, ’Guys, this is not the way reality really is."
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers star wasn't wealthy growing up, so he knows a middle-class family's everyday struggles:
“I grew up in a middle-class family in California. My dad worked his ass off for our family. My mom stayed at home, took care of us kids,” Brady added. “Then I look at my life with my family, and it’s so fast.”
Also, being a professional athlete means missing a lot of things. Birthdays, school events, or even everyday stuff most parents are there to witness:
“I know that I’ve screwed up a lot of things — that’s the reality of being a parent,” the seven-time Super Bowl champion admitted. “You just hope you can show them enough things to realize when they are doing things that are selected for Mom and Dad to make our lives more convenient, that is a treat.”
Brady added that his wife Gisele tries to “create experiences that are along the lines of what most kids go through.”
Even so, he realizes that his children will “still have experiences that a lot of kids never do have.”
There's nothing wrong with being wealthy and he shouldn't feel bad about that. But this once again proves that celebrities are just like the rest of us.
